- I will discuss the importance of safety to the children and the importance of listening E.G – Holding Hands or pushchair when on outings
- I will also discuss the dangers of wandering off and the danger of talking to strangers
- When I take the children on outings they will be supervised at all times and never left unattended
- I will always make sure that all other children in my care are kept safe at all times and reassured
Procedure in the event of a lost child
- As soon as I notice a child is missing a thorough search will be made of the house and garden and the area around the garden
- If a child goes missing when on an outing I will first search the area for approx 5 minutes
- If the child is not found after this time the police will be contacted ASAP and then the parents contacted
- A wider search will then be conducted by asking passers-by, shop keepers and checking CCTV where available for the missing child
- All other children in my care will be kept safe and reassured
- I will ask passers-by, shop keepers, check CCTV if necessary for the missing child
I will keep a record and report on any incident and the parents will be informed of any incidents.
I will also inform OFSTED of any incidents and will review the incident to see how this happened to make sure that it does not happen again
