Illness Policy

Lucys Little Munchkins

This Policy links to the Early Year’s Foundation Stage requirements, safeguarding and welfare requirements, keeping safe, Every Child Matters, Outcome ‘staying safe’.

As a registered Childminder services are offered to children who are ‘well’. I will be unable to care for children who are unwell as this could cause a risk to me, my family and other children in my care. I will care for the child as soon as he/she becomes well again.

I will discuss with parents the procedure for children who are ill or infectious and this is outlined below.

Contact details are given at the time of registration and are checked at each contract review, if details change in between reviews then parents are asked to keep the information up to date
Sick children require addition care and attention from their parents in the comfort of their own home which I am unable to offer, all efforts will be made to reduce the spread of illness by encouraging sanitary and hand washing practices.

Procedure in the event of illness

If your child is ill and is unable to participate in our normal day to day activities then your child must stay at home

In the event that your child becomes ill and needs to be collected, parents will be contacted and will be expected to collect the child as a matter of urgency. If the parents cannot be contacted after an hour then the emergency contact will be contacted and asked to collect the child on your behalf

The table below outlines sickness and exclusion policy and the days clearance needed for different illness, this is to ensure the well-being of every child and to prevent the unnecessary spread of illness/infection as I am sure parents/carers are aware.

The list is not exhaustive and if your child appears unwell, for whatever reason, you will be contacted to come and collect them
